29. The mind is vast and every cell of your body knows how
to respond to the world, which is a part of us, though it's
very convenient to define yourself as that that's inside your
own skin. Whatever's inside your skin is you, and whatever's
outside your skin is the outside physical world. You can begin
to see your entire body as an incredibly powerful and all-knowing
computer, from millions of years of evolution, and you can
learn to access deep wisdom. The part of you that dreams at
night has best access to yourself, and with experience, you
can learn to listen to it during the day. It's not what
you think. It's not what you feel ... It's
more akin to a realization stream, something very quiet, often
tardy, bubbling up inside you. (1.) You are your
attention, (2.) which is your awareness, (3.) which
is consciousness, (4.) which dwells inside your inner
atmosphere, (5.) which is your character, (6.) and
your fate.

|
30. Outer attacks have evolved to bypass your reason, and
hit you in the emotions, triggering the sharp sting of inner
recriminations, or certain automatic aggressive counterpunches.
None of this is you It is your training, or
your automatic recoiling in horror. You are your attention.
Place your attention on your aim, and see what tries to steal
you away from yourself.

31. I was at a local bar last night, overhearing a loud,
merry fellow saying, "You're not a cool guy!" to
his barmate, and silently wondered what I would say if someone
had said this to me. An automatic knot in my stomach almost
thought, What on earth could anyone say that would be cool?
though I silenced this thought right away, and kind of forgot
about the problem.
|
|
|
|
32. Then about fifteen minutes later, a very quiet part of
my mind resurfaced the memory of the guy saying, "You're
not a cool guy," focussing on the second word of the
sentence, "not." Then a whole string of realizations
from taxi1010 began
to bubble up, topped by the response, "Networking, eh?"
... which was kind of cool!

33. In the long run, you're better off saying something appropriate
to another person, rather than anything you think, feel or
want to say. People are living at different age levels, different
emotional levels, and different intellectual levels, and it's
kind of interesting to consider something that would be of
use to another person, to nudge that person along on their
own individual way.
|
|
|
|
34. Some people habitually try to steal your attention, flood
your awareness, cut you off from your consciousness, somehow
spoiling your inner atmosphere, poisoning your character,
and trampling your fate. It's best to (1.) hold your breath
(to quiet your emotions), (2.) put your attention on
everything else you can hear in the outside physical world
(to quiet your thoughts), and (3.) get away from them
(to get back to your own life, and to your aim, which is whatever
you decide).

35. There's something kind of special about the number eighty-eight ...
eighty-eight keys on a piano, eighty-eight named constellations,
and eighty-eight "stargates" inside the Seishin Byooin
(Japanese Mental Hospital) of taxi1010.
At this level of granularity, you can begin to see new possibilities.
What's inside you can see them, like stars in the night. Your
mind is vast, and extremely capable.

Review
|
|
29. There is something very quiet, often tardy, bubbling
up inside you. It breathes. It absorbs impressions and compares
them to its bank of experiences, then emits a steady stream
of realizations.
|
|
30. Outer attacks have evolved to distract you from this
inner stream, allowing people and institutions to take over
your life.
|
|
31. If you keep your thoughts and feelings still, your deeper
mind can help you. It's just a little slower than you might
expect.
|
|
32. It's so deep, it's cool!
|
|
33. Everyone is individual, and you're better off saying
something appropriate to each person, rather than anything
you think, feel or believe.
|
|
34. Get away from people who habitually steal your attention,
(or awareness,) and get back to the aim of your life, which
is whatever you decide.
|
|
35. To the part of you that dreams at night, sensations of
your fingers and toes are like stars in the night. Your mind
is vast, and extremely capable.

|
Unifying Idea
|
|
(1.) Mysticism is very specific. (2.) It has to
do with what's inside you. (3.) You're supposed to listen
to yourself, and test its stream of inner realizations with
reason and cognition. (4.) You're supposed to notice
its quiet hints. (5.) Let the part of you that dreams
at night take you over!
